Aurora loves frogs.
Her 3 –year-old birthday party was bug and frog themed. Her favorite toy is a Pine Barrens tree
frog puppet she named Kermit. Thanks
to a green hat and a couple of ping-pong balls, we accommodated her last minute
Halloween costume request to be a frog.
She sleeps on a banjo-playing-Kermit pillow, she reads on a couch
covered in frog fabric, and she collects little plastic frogs from various
stores around town.
Aurora recently pulled out the felt lily pads I made her for
last year’s leap day and has been using them to hop around her room. Ribbit. Hop. Ribbit, Hop. Ribbit.
Hop.
So I used the
game as inspiration to make her a set out of foam for the bath.
For the game, she picked out a plastic frog. I placed a letter on each lily pad and
asked her to help the frog hop on the lily pad with the letter that made the g-sound/b-sound/c-sound/etc. She hoped her frogs around for a while,
then declared she was “all done with this game.”
At her request, I gave her several additional plastic frogs
for her bath. And a penguin.
